A new report shows that 562 million people worldwide currently own digital currencies, an increase from 420 million in 2023. It constitutes 6.8% of the world’s population. Asia is at the forefront of this growth. North America is behind them. In general, the adoption of digital currencies is increasing worldwide. A significant increase is observed in all continents.

Triple A, a fintech company that enables businesses to process cryptocurrency payments and payments, recently released a report titled “The State of Global Cryptocurrency Ownership in 2024,” which “takes an in-depth look at cryptocurrency ownership trends around the world and their it shows. Crypto ownership changes by continent

Asia increased by 21.8% with crypto ownership increasing from 268.2 million to 326.8 million. This growth highlights Asia’s important role in shaping the digital currency landscape. North America followed closely behind with ownership increasing from 52.1 million to 72.2 million, an increase of 38.6%.

The report also shows that cryptocurrency ownership in South America has increased from 25.5 million to 55.2 million, representing an increase of 116.5 percent. Europe also experienced significant growth and their number increased from 30.7 million to 49.2 million, which is a 60.3% increase. Africa experienced a modest increase from 40.1 million to 43.5 million, an increase of 8.5 percent. In Oceania, interest more than doubled.
