The first Ethereum smartphone sold out within 24 hours. In this Pooyanmusic post, we will introduce the new Ethereum smartphone.
Pre-sale of Ethereum-based smartphones was successful. It sold 50 devices within 24 hours, all equipped with ethOS.
ethOS Phone includes tools for payments, messaging, and Ethereum virtual machines. And it supports layer 2 scaling networks.
To purchase these Ethereum smartphones, buyers had to purchase an EthOS NFT that could be burned or destroyed to reserve the phone.
The pre-sale of an Ethereum (ETH)-based smartphone was a huge success. Within 24 hours, the first 50 mobile devices were sold with an operating system based on a network of smart contracts.
The Ethereum Phone is based on the Google Pixel 7a and features a unique open source operating system: ethOS. It stands for Ethereum Operating System. But in Greek it means “personality”.
These devices are distinguished from other Web3 smartphones by using a built-in Ethereum light client. This feature allows ethOS to independently verify blocks. and turn the device into a “light node” in the Ethereum network.
The Ethereum smartphone has several built-in tools to handle payments and receive and send messages. In addition, the mobile device includes integration for the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), which allows users to make payments in an easier way. Additionally, it supports Ethereum Virtual Machines (EVM) and Layer 2 scaling networks.
Ethereum smartphones are only available through NFT
Only 50 handsets were available during the pre-order. To be eligible to purchase these Ethereum smartphones, interested buyers must purchase an ethOS non-fungible token (NFT). They can burn it or destroy it to reserve their phone.
A post on X (Twitter) warned users about fake NFTs on OpenSea, the largest NFT trading platform.
Some EthOS NFTs are sold on OpenSea for three Ethereum (ETH) or close to $5,000. Compared to the regular Google Pixel 7a, which retails for $499 in the US, that’s a 10-fold difference.
While Ethereum smartphone pre-sales have been a huge success, the Solana (SOL) smartphone is off to a more successful start. According to Flipside records, just over 2,000 units have been sold since launch.
To increase sales of user-friendly Solana encryption phones, Solana Labs recently dropped the price from $1,000 to $599. The price drop came after the Ethereum smartphone debut was announced to be held in the fall of 2023.
